PAINTED LADY FLUTTER

This installation for El Prado park represents a flutter of painted lady butterflies grouped together to begin their migration as they often start by flying upward together in a swirling motion. The purpose is to teach and bring awareness to the painted ladies and their annual travel patterns to the local residents of Torrance, CA. It includes seating with information panels attached around the centerpiece of painted ladies on branch-like structures, creating a 360-degree experience. Residents can also flip the wings of the butterfly panels for more information.
